The Way of St. James
Walk in the footsteps of pilgrims across northern Spain, from the medieval charm of Pamplona and Burgos to the spiritual heart of Santiago de Compostela. This 8-day journey blends history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes—culminating at Cabo Finisterre, once thought to be the edge of the world.
Itinerary
Arrival at Bilbao airport. Assistance of our guide and departure for Roncesvalles, where we will contemplate the Collegiate, a set of buildings including the Chapel of Santo Spirito. Free time for lunch and departure for Pamplona. Arrival at the hotel, accommodation in the reserved rooms. Dinner and overnight.
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for Estella where we will visit numerous palaces, churches and convents of the XVI century. After visiting the San Pedro neighborhood, we will continue the journey to Logroño. We will stop in Najera, where we will visit the Monasterio of Santa Maria la Real. After lunch we will visit Santo Domingo de la Calzada, the hospital, the Cathedral and the Plaza Mayor. Departure for Burgos, hotel accommodation, dinner and overnight.
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning dedicated to visiting Burgos with our guide. We will visit the wonderful Gothic Cathedral, the historic center and head towards Fromista, where we could admire the Church of San Martin of Fromista. Free lunch. In the afternoon we continue to Carrion de los Condes where we will visit the Monasterio di Zoilo and the church of Santa Maria del Camino. We will follow towards Sahagun, with multiple churches of Roman and Moorish style to end the day in Leon. Hotel accommodation, dinner and overnight.
Breakfast at the hotel. Guided tour of the city of León, we will visit the Cathedral and the Monastery of St. Marco. We will continue to Astorga where we will do an overview and stop for lunch. After visiting the Roman bridge we head towards Lugo, stopping off at Villafranca del Bierzo to admire the palace of the Marquises of Villafranca. Arrival in Lugo, accommodation in reserved rooms, dinner and overnight.
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for Palos do Rei where the Romanesque church Vilar de Donas is located with the most important medieval paintings of Galicia. We continue to Melide and Arzua with the characteristic horreos. Free time for lunch. Departure for Santiago de Compostela, hotel accommodation, dinner and overnight.
Breakfast at the hotel, meeting with the guide to visit the millenary city, home to the mortal remains of James, apostle of Jesus. We will visit the Cathedral, the Obradoiro Square and the small streets of the historic center. Free time. Back to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Breakfast at the hotel, departure for La Coruña, a marine city whose symbol of the city is a lighthouse over 2000 years old. After a guided tour we will continue to Muxia and Cabo Finisterrre, the most extreme points of the way of St. James. Free time for lunch. Back to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
