Itinerary
Day 1 – LISBON
Arrival at Lisbon airport, meeting with our guide, private transfer to the hotel and accommodation in the reserved rooms. Free time. Dinner and overnight.
Day 2 – LISBON
Breakfast at the hotel. Meeting with the guide for a full day dedicated to visiting the city. Besides being the capital of Portugal, Lisbon is one of the most fascinating cities in Europe: bright, warm, elegant and popular at the same time. We visit the church of Santo Antonio, built on the site of the birthplace of the saint, the Romanesque Cathedral of Lisbon, the Alfama district with its narrow streets, stairways and pitches. In the afternoon, visit of the monumental district of Belém from where ships set sail to discover Brazil. Stop at the Belem Tower monument dedicated to maritime discoveries, an exotic fortress that has become a symbol of the city. Visit of the Monastero de los Jerònimos (church and cloister), a masterpiece of Manueline architecture, rich in decorations, exotic plant, animal sculptures and symbols of the art of navigation. Back to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 3 – LISBON – SINTRA – CABO DA ROCA – CASCAIS – ESTORIL
Breakfast at the hotel. Meeting with the guide, departure for Sintra with its historical center, the National Palace where, in addition to the splendor of some azulejos, one can admire above all the Arab origins. Origins visible everywhere: in the decorations, in the arches of the doors, in the gardens, in the inner courtyards. After lunch we continue to Cabo Da Roca, the westernmost point of the European continent. Return to Lisbon via the beautiful cities of Cascais and Estoril, famous in particular for hosting the European royals in exile, including the last king of Italy Umberto I. Possibility to have a dinner with a Fado show (pay on spot). Back to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4 – LISBON – ÓBIDOS – ALCOBAÇA – NAZARÉ – BATALHA – FATIMA
Breakfast at the hotel. Meeting with our guide and departure for Óbidos, a charming fortified town, surrounded by 12th century walls. Visit of the medieval village, characterized by narrow streets and white houses framed in yellow and blue. We continue towards Alcobaça, a visit to the important Cistercian monastery, a UNESCO heritage site. Next Nazaré with the visit of the traditional popular neighborhoods and the site of the Miracle, from which you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Atlantic. Lunch and in the afternoon we continue to Batalha to visit the beautiful monastery, masterpiece of Portuguese Gothic erected to celebrate the victory over the Spaniards. In the late afternoon arrival in Fatima, where in 1917 the Virgin appeared with three shepherds, today home to one of the most important Marian pilgrimages in the world. Short visit to the sanctuary. In the evening possibility to participate at a torchlight procession. Arrival at the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 5 – FATIMA – LISBON – CITY OF DESTINATION
Breakfast at the hotel. Free morning and transfer to the airport (apt to be confirmed)
